MEET THE TEAM

Luci Morriss

Luci joined the Abbeydore Deanery in 2018, and is rooted in the Black Mountains Benefice. Having previously supported youth work across the deanery, she now supports and develops our Pastoral Visitors team. And encourages new ways for people to meet to overcome feelings of loneliness and isolation. Luci also, with others, leads regular Reflective Rambles around the deanery.

When Luci is not working, she loves to be outside in this beautiful landscape – walking, running and sometimes just sitting down and enjoying it!

Revd Caitlin Thomson

Caitlin Thomson (Cate) is a member of our Rural Pioneer Team, with primary oversight of the Twin Brooks Group, and heading up the Children and Young People Mission Stream.

Cate was born in Oxfordshire, but raised in Cumbria as the youngest of four in a clergy family. Though the youngest of our team, Cate has crammed a lot of experience into her years…

  • A Gap Year as a Diocesan Youth Worker in Carlisle Diocese.
  • Leading worship (both musical and liturgical) since she was 14.
  • A year teaching English in a Hong Kong Kindergarten.
  • Saturday jobs in bookshops.
  • Teaching English to teenagers in an Italian Summer School.
  • And one memorable summer running an Ice-Cream bike for Ely Cathedral, despite being Lactose Intolerant!

Cate studied at Sheffield University to achieve a BA in English Language and Literature and an MA in Applied Linguistics with TESOL, and trained for Ordination at Cranmer Hall in St John’s College, Durham (BA Theology, Ministry and Mission).

In her free time, Cate enjoys reading, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, TTRPGs, videogames, music, and art. Cate lives in Kingstone with her dog, Milly.

Anne Lloyd

Anne joined the Deanery in 2018 and works part-time to provide administrative support to the clergy team and for the mission projects. She works closely with two colleagues, Pearl who looks after finance matters and Sarah, who deals with communications.

Anne farms alongside her husband and two children in the Black Mountains area. In her spare time Anne enjoys reading, walking and sewing.

Simon Lockett

One time farm worker and environmental activist, now a priest, writer, pilgrim guide and a Dad.

He came to the Abbeydore Deanery in 2006.

Geoff Holder

Geoff is a self-supporting rural pioneer curate serving in the Black Mountains and a volunteer farm chaplain with Borderlands Rural Chaplaincy. His background is in rural development and poverty reduction in Africa including Uganda and Mozambique. He currently works as a project manager in the charity sector partnering with African churches and community organisations.

In his spare time, Goeff regeneratively farms pasture-fed pigs and enjoys tinkering with his Land Rover. He is married to Christine, and they have two teenage children.

Revd Jane Rogers

Jane knows Abbeydore Deanery and its people well. She has taken services in nearly all of the churches in the deanery. And has been the Rural Dean, sharing the responsibilities with other deanery clergy, since 2021.

Jane and her husband have lived in Blakemere in the Borderlink Benefice for more than 40 years. They have two grown up daughters and four grandchildren who bring  great joy.

Jane also knows the Diocese of Hereford as she was on the Diocesan Board of Finance for more than 30 years and chaired it for 10. Before ordination in 2013 Jane was a business consultant and a non-executive director in the NHS for 15 years.

Jane is currently looking after the Borderlink Benefice while they look for a new priest. One of her particular interests is encouraging people to make the best use of their talents to live out their faith as fully as possible.
